Areas of Practice

I offer in-person and video counselling in Victoria, BC, and video and telephone counselling for clients in BC, AB, SK, MB, NL & L, YT, NU, and NT.

I work with adults, seniors, and couples across a broad range of presenting concerns. Whatever brings you to counselling, you will be met with warmth, experience, and a genuine commitment to your wellbeing.

Area of Practice

Anxiety & Depression

  • Generalized Anxiety
  • Social Anxiety
  • Panic
  • Depression
  • Low Self-Esteem

Anxiety and depression are among the most common reasons people seek counselling — and among the most treatable. Whether you are experiencing persistent worry, low mood, panic, or a loss of meaning, we can work together to understand what is driving your distress and develop practical, lasting strategies for relief.

Area of Practice

Trauma

  • PTSD
  • Complex Trauma
  • Childhood Trauma
  • Accident & Medical Trauma
  • Vicarious Trauma

Trauma can take many forms — a single overwhelming event, or the accumulated weight of difficult experiences over time. Trauma-informed counselling creates a safe, paced space to process what has happened and begin to move forward without being defined by the past.

Area of Practice

Grief & Loss

  • Bereavement
  • Anticipatory Grief
  • Disenfranchised Grief
  • Pet Loss
  • Loss of Identity or Role

Grief is not only about death. It encompasses the loss of relationships, health, identity, dreams, and the life we expected to have. I offer a compassionate, unhurried space to grieve fully — and, in time, to find a way to carry your loss while still living well.

Area of Practice

Relationships & Couples

  • Couples Counselling
  • Premarital Counselling
  • Communication & Conflict
  • Infidelity & Trust
  • Intimacy
  • Separation & Divorce

Relationships are central to our wellbeing — and they can be a source of both deep joy and profound pain. Whether you are navigating conflict, communication difficulties, infidelity, or a relationship at a crossroads, couples counselling offers a structured, supportive space to work through what is happening together.

Area of Practice

Life Transitions

  • Retirement Transition
  • Career Change
  • Empty Nest
  • Relocation
  • Identity & Purpose

Major life changes — even positive ones — can be disorienting and difficult. Retirement, career change, relocation, the end of a relationship, or the loss of a role you have held for years can all shake your sense of who you are. Counselling can help you navigate these transitions with greater clarity and confidence.

Area of Practice

Seniors' Issues & Aging

  • Aging & Identity
  • Caregiver Support
  • Chronic Illness
  • End-of-Life Concerns
  • Isolation & Loneliness

Aging brings its own particular challenges — physical changes, shifting roles, loss of independence, the deaths of friends and partners, and questions of meaning and legacy. I have extensive experience supporting older adults and their families through these transitions with dignity and care.

Area of Practice

Workplace Concerns

  • Burnout
  • Workplace Conflict
  • Career Uncertainty
  • Work-Life Balance
  • Professional Identity

Work-related stress, burnout, conflict with colleagues or managers, and questions about career direction can significantly affect your mental health and quality of life. Counselling provides a confidential space to process what is happening at work and develop strategies for moving forward.

Area of Practice

Faith & Spirituality

  • Faith Transitions
  • Spiritual Crisis
  • Religious Trauma
  • Meaning & Purpose
  • Integrating Faith & Mental Health

For many people, faith and spirituality are central to how they make meaning of their lives — and sometimes a source of deep struggle. I welcome clients for whom spiritual questions are part of their experience, and I bring both respect and sensitivity to this dimension of the work. As a Christian, I also offer a Bible-based faith perspective for those who are interested.

Area of Practice

Addictions

  • Alcohol Use
  • Drug Use
  • Harm Reduction
  • Recovery Support
  • Relapse Prevention

Alcohol and drug use often develops as a way of coping with pain, stress, or difficult emotions. Counselling can help you understand the role substances play in your life, explore what underlies the pattern, and develop a path toward greater freedom and wellbeing.
